Hermann Ebbinghaus memorized nonsense syllables and then timed how fast they slipped. The drop is steep at the start and then flattens. A fact you met once this morning is already leaking by evening. A fact you meet again, on purpose, sticks longer each time. Forgetting is not a moral failure. It is the default, and review is the repair.

Memory falls fast, then levels off. A second look is what makes it stay.

Solomon Asch put a person in a room with actors and asked which line matched a sample. The actors gave the wrong answer out loud. About three quarters of the real participants went along at least once, against a line they could see. They were not confused about the ink. They were unwilling to be the only one in the room who disagreed.

People will deny a plain sight to stay with the group, at least once.
